On Saturday, June 20, Bishop James Conley celebrated a Mass of Rededication at Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence. For parishioners, the event was a homecoming that was a long time coming.
In 2023, Sacred Heart Parish began renovations on the almost 100-year-old church in advance of its centennial anniversary in 2024. But on Oct. 12, 2023, just weeks before the renovations were complete, a fire broke out, causing extensive damage.

Behind St. Louise Gift & Thrift on the Lincoln campus of Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska (CSS) at 22nd and O streets, a group of volunteers worked over three weeks to create a mural honoring the Marian apparition.
Father Kenneth Borowiak, pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Friend and a native of a farm south of York, was invited to offer a prayer on behalf of the state’s agricultural community.

Governor Jim Pillen signed a proclamation declaring June 18 a “Day of Prayer for Nebraska Agriculture,” calling on Nebraskans to unite in prayer for farmers and ranchers facing severe drought, wildfires, and other extreme weather conditions across the state.
